Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The 34th annual Martin Luther King Scholarship Breakfast with PUSH for Excellence is returning in person Monday, January 15, 2024, 7:30 A.M. to 11 A.M at a location to be determinate, bringing together leaders, businesses and the community across the country. Join Rev. Jesse Jackson and PUSH for Excellence as we celebrate the service, legacy and ideology of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., while continuing our efforts to raise funding for college students in desperate need of assistance.
TUESDAY, February 6:
Winter Warmers: Spotlight on Pasta e Fagiole – Eataly Chicago @ 6 – 7pm CST: During the cold winter months, the Italian kitchen is always brimming with hearty soups to enjoy during a night-in. Join us around the cooktop in La Scuola as our Chef creates classic Italian soups throughout this cooking demonstration series.This cooking demonstration is sure to warm you up as we focus on Pasta e Fagiole. Guests will enjoy an antipasti plate as they watch our chef create Pasta e Fagiole from scratch. After the demo, guests will enjoy the minestrone fresh from the stovetop with a glass of Italian wine.
WEDNESDAY, February 7:
The Sustainable/Upcycle Fashion Basics 101[Class]– Kit Kat Lounge @ 6 – 8pm CDT: This program will discover a unique way of recycling previously un-wearable items or old clothing, creating a more sustainable way of shopping, creating a lifestyle worth living for and thinking about. You will learn the “idea” of upcycled fashion and learn to create sustainable clothing that can save the planet! This class offers the opportunity to step into the world of Sustainable Fashion. Since Sustainable Fashion is the future of retail, our future depends on us to be smarter with our textile waste. With over 16 million tons of clothing landing in our landfills every year (US alone), not only is this class educational but a necessity, worldwide.
THURSDAY, February 8:
ChiBrrCon IV – Hermann Hall Conference Center, Illinois Institute of Technology @ 8am – 7pm CST: After our biggest year so far ChiBrrCon is back at a new location. Come join us at the Illinois Institute of Technology on February 1, 2024 as ChiBrrCon IV makes its mark. Pre-reserved tickets for official sponsors and partners are now available. Employees of sponsor companies, should ask their organization's representative for your company's unique promo code to get free access to the conference. General Admission tickets will be available mid November, 2023. In order to help encourage attendance of those who do register for a General Admission ticket, we are charging a nominal fee of $20 this year. Refunds are available up to 7 days prior to the event. A processing fee of $2.53 will be deducted from refunds. Our theme this year is FOUNDATION like the epic trilogy of books by Isaac Asimov which focused on Harri Seldon’s algorithm that predicts the future and manages the crises that shaped it. So have fun with your presentations, and how you come dressed.
